We are happy to announce the new Tree View. The rebuild of this page brings a new look and feel for probably our most iconic page. Along with enhancements to the user experience, there are several new features that allow users to better traverse, what can be, a very large canvas of information.
Plan Level Library
We have renamed the Plan Item Library to be more reflective of what is actually being dragged into the tree by the user, which is a Plan Level. Users still can add levels to the library with the + but now it’s done within the library instead of a modal. We’ve also changed the behavior of the side panel so now it always remains in view as the user scrolls around in the plan.
Parking Lot Messaging
Now when an admin moves an item into the Parking Lot, a confirmation modal is presented. We've also added messaging in the modal to describe the implications of moving an item into the Parking Lot.
Plan Item Card Improvements
There were some enhancements made to the Plan Item Card as well as some behavior changes. Below is a breakdown of the changes to the Plan Item Card:
- Total Items count - We've added on to our counter to show the Total Count of the children items.
- Plan Item Details tab - These allow the user to display different important info like metrics and ownership of the items. The system will remember if one of these tabs are selected on an item and it will display that way until the user chooses another or un-selects it.
- Drag and Drop Behavior - The system remembers the original placement of the item when moving and once moved, will expand the new parent item if children are present so the item will be in view immediately for the user. We also eliminated the movement the items used to do when dragging, so there’s less room for error.
Expand/Collapse Features
We have new expand and collapse features throughout the new Tree View. First, there is now a expand or collapse all button. In addition to that, there are now expand and collapse buttons on each of the “branches” to allow users to just expand from one item down.
Jump To Plan Item
Now a user can interact with the drop-down to select an item in the tree and be taken to it’s position in the hierarchy. The selected items quickly highlights to better help the user find it on the page.
