Adding a Custom Content Widget

Previous Article: Adding a Progress Widget

The next widget we are going to add to our dashboard is a Custom Content widget. A Custom Content widget gives you the ability to add custom text and images to your dashboard.

To add a Custom Content widget, click on the "Custom Content" button in the toolbar and then select a drop-zone where you would like to put your widget. The drop-zones will appear as horizontal blue bars, indicating where you can place a widget. Click on the drop-zone to place your custom content widget.

The Add Custom Content Widget Window

After selecting a widget drop-zone (i.e. where you want to place your widget), you will be prompted with a window titled "Add Custom Content Widget". This window will walk you through the steps necessary to create your metric widget.

The Add Custom Content Widget Window

Step 1: Choose Content, Name, and Style

The first pieces of information you'll need to fill out are the widget's name and header styles.

Next, add your custom content (text, lists, images, links, etc) using the text area at the bottom of the window. When formatting your content, you have a lot of options, including:

  • Font
  • Font Size
  • Font Styling (Bold, Italic, Underlined)
  • Font Color
  • List Styling
  • Highlighted Color
  • Alignment
  • Images
  • Tables
  • Hyperlinks
  • Code Insertion

For now, let's add an image to the custom content area.

If at any point in time you want to stop the creation of the widget and discard all of your setup, you can click on either the X button in the top right corner of the window or the Cancel button in the bottom right corner of the window.

Creating the Widget

After filling out step 1, you are now ready to create your widget! Click on the "Add" button in the bottom right corner of the window and your widget will be added to the dashboard in the drop-zone you selected previously.
