Configuring notifications for Chat and Channels

This feature is currently in Beta. This feature is available on certain AchieveIt plans. Contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.

Overview

There are two scopes where notifications can be configured. One is for the individual user's Chat thread and the other is in a Channel, where there can be a group of users. Below is a breakdown of each scope and the type of notifications that can be set for each.

Chat - Individual Users App

When a user first logs into the AchieveIt app in Teams, they will see the Notifications card. This is a list of all of the different types of notifications that can be set for the user, with all of them on by default. Users can then change those notifications at any time by clicking the Change Notifications button on the Notifications card. They can also call that card at any type by typing Notifications into the message bar and the bot will respond with the Notification card in the thread.

Users can also configure their Teams notifications in the AchieveIt application as well. If you navigate to the My Profile settings in the app, you will see a column for Microsoft Teams under the Integrations header. This will only affect the notifications sent to the user in the app, not in channels.

Note: Due Date notifications can currently only be configured within Microsoft Teams.

Channels - Teams or Groups of users

Channels offer a broader, team-wide view of activity. Rather than being scoped to a specific user, channel notifications are driven by the plans selected during configuration — meaning anyone in the channel sees relevant activity regardless of their individual assignments.

Note that Update Requests and Due date notifications are not delivered through Channels.

When a user @mentions AchieveIt with the Notifications bot command, they will see the Notification card. By clicking Change Notifications, they can pick a plan or multiple plans and what specific notifications they want to populate in the channel. It does not matter what users are in the channel, all notifications selected for the plan or plans will start to show once activity occurs within the plan. This is a great way for all team members be notified on activity plans without a plan admin needing to add them to multiple items in the plans.

At any point a user can @mention AchieveIt with the command Notifications, and they will see the notification card. The user will then click Change Notifications and they will be able to edit the plans or types of notifications the channel is receiving. To turn off notifications for a channel, the user will need to remove the plans from the Plan Scope section.
