All New: Microsoft Teams Integration

This feature is currently in Beta. This feature is available on certain AchieveIt plans. Contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.

Overview

We are happy to announce the brand new Microsoft Teams Integration. Now organizations can integrate with AchieveIt where users can collaborate and take action on their AchieveIt work without ever leaving their Teams environment. The AchieveIt for Teams app connects the AchieveIt platform directly to Microsoft Teams, enabling users to receive real-time activity notifications, subscribe channels to plans, and take action from Teams.

Getting Started

The AchieveIt app is available through the Microsoft Teams app store. Users can find and add the AchieveIt app directly from the store. Initial setup requires a Microsoft Entra ID Tenant administrator to connect your organization's Teams environment to AchieveIt.

Setting up the Integration in AchieveIt

A Tenant ID and Bot Permissions are required to establish the connection between the organization’s Teams environment and the AchieveIt application. A consent link can be copied and sent to the organizations Microsoft Admin and they can approve the application and bot via the link. This will populate the Tenant ID automatically on the Integrations page.

Scopes where a user can receive notifications

Chat

Personal Chat delivers notifications directly to the individual user. These are tied to the user's own work — items they are assigned to or are a member of. Chat notifications include all of the following activity types: items assigned to the user, updates submitted on plan items, comments made on plan items, metric updates on plan items, files added to plan items, and Update Requests. Due date notifications are also delivered through Chat.

Types of notifications received in the Chat:

  • New Assignments

  • Update Requests

  • Progress Updates

  • Metric Updates

  • Comments

  • Files

  • Due Date is approaching

  • Due Date is today

  • Due Date is in the past

Setting up notifications in the Chat thread:

The notification card will show immediately once a user logs into the app for the first time. They will be able to call that notification card at any time by typing Notifications into the message bar at the bottom of the chat thread. They will also be able to turn off and on most of the same notifications in the My Profile section of the AchieveIt app, excluding the Due Date notifications.

Bot Commands for the Chat thread:

Users can type into the message bar at the bottom of the Chat thread to call different commands. Users can specify what commands they want to use or they can use the Help command to pull up the entire list of commands and the actions that go along with them. The bot will also respond with a generic message suggesting they use the Help command if it doesn’t understand the command the user has input.

Supported commands:

  • Notifications - pulls up the notifications card where the user can turn on or off specific notification types for their user

  • Support - Navigates the user to the Help Center page in AchieveIt

  • Open AchieveIt - This will open up the AchieveIt app in a browser tab

  • Sign Out/Sign In - Users can use this to either sign in or out of the app in Teams

Channels

Channels offer a broader, team-wide view of activity. Rather than being scoped to a specific user, channel notifications are driven by the plans selected during configuration — meaning anyone in the channel sees relevant activity regardless of their individual assignments. Note that Update Requests and Due date notifications are not delivered through Channels.

Setting up notifications in the Channel:

Users in the channel can type the notifications bot command which will display the notification card for the channel. From there, they can select the plans they want to receive notifications from as well as the different types of notifications offered.
