Microsoft Teams Integration Overview

This feature is currently in Beta. This feature is available on certain AchieveIt plans. Contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.

The AchieveIt for Microsoft Teams integration brings your strategic plan activity directly into the Teams environment, so users can stay informed and take action without switching between applications. The app is available through the Microsoft Teams app store and connects the AchieveIt platform to Teams through real-time notifications, channel subscriptions, and bot commands.

Getting Started

The AchieveIt app can be found and installed directly from the Microsoft Teams app store. Initial setup requires a Microsoft Entra ID Tenant administrator to connect your organization's Teams environment to AchieveIt by providing the organization's Tenant ID in AchieveIt's Integration settings page. This is done automatically when the Admin approves the application through the consent link provided to them.

Notifications

Once connected, AchieveIt delivers activity notifications in two scopes: personal Chat and team Channels.

Chat notifications are delivered directly to individual users and are scoped to their own work — plan items they're assigned to or a member of. Chat supports the following notification types: New Assignments, Update Requests, Progress Updates, Metric Updates, Comments, Files, and Due Date notifications (approaching, today, and past).

Channel notifications provide a broader, team-wide view of activity across the plans selected during channel configuration. Anyone in the channel sees relevant activity regardless of their individual assignments. Channels support New Assignments, Progress Updates, Metric Updates, Comments, and Files. Update Requests and Due Date notifications are not delivered through Channels.

Managing Notifications - Users Chat

Users can manage their notification preferences directly within the Teams Chat thread. The notification settings card appears automatically on first login and can be recalled at any time by typing Notifications into the message bar. Most notification types can also be toggled in the My Profile section of the AchieveIt app — the exception being Due Date notifications, which are managed only through the Chat thread.

Managing Notifications - Channel

Users can manage notifications preferences directly in the Teams channel by mentioning the AchieveIt app and typing notifications. The notification card will appear and the user can select the plans they want notifications sent from as well as the types of notifications sent.

Bot Commands

The AchieveIt bot supports several commands users can type directly into the Chat message bar:

  • Notifications (both Users Chat and Channel) — Opens the notification settings card to manage individual notification preferences
  • Help (both Users Chat and Channel) - Displays useful information like bot commands or support links.
  • Support — Links to the AchieveIt Help Center
  • Open AchieveIt — Opens the AchieveIt app in a browser tab
  • Sign In / Sign Out — Manages the user's authentication state within Teams

If the bot doesn't recognize a command, it will prompt the user to try the Help command for a full list of available options.
